An Act to update and reaffirm the Region’s procedures relating to the processing and archival of Acts and Resolutions presented to and passed by the Congress of the DSA
The Congress of the Democratic Socialist Assembly:
Acknowledging that the efficient running of government requires procedural standards;
Observing that some of the measures mandated by the Legislative Procedures Act are no longer in common use;
Wishing to establish protocols that reflect the DSA’s current state;
Hereby enacts the following legislation:
Chapter I: General Provisions
I - This Act may be cited as the “Legislative Procedures Act 2018.”
II - This Act shall come into force upon its passage.
Chapter II: Repeal
I - The current legislation titled “Legislative Procedures Act” shall henceforth be officially recognised as the “Legislative Procedures Act 2014.”
II - The Legislative Procedures Act 2014 is fully repealed and rendered null and void.
Chapter III: Official Language for Administrative Purposes
I - English shall be the recognised official language for communications and documents issued by the organs of the Democratic Socialist Assembly, including the Congress and Cabinet.
II - The use of British and American spelling shall have equal validity in official communications and documents.
Chapter IV: Sponsors of Legislation
I - The author(s) of proposed legislation shall be automatically considered as sponsoring said legislation.
II - Any Member of Congress in good standing may co-sponsor a proposed piece of legislation, and the names of all co-sponsor nations shall be displayed below that of the author(s).
Chapter V: Categorisation of Legislation
I - Proposed legislation shall be presented under at least one of the following categories:
Chapter VI: Archival of Legislation
I - Passed legislation shall be moved into a relevant area of the ‘Laws of the Assembly’ board on the DSA forums.
II - Areas of the ‘Laws of the Assembly’ board on the DSA forums shall be defined as follows:

- Charter Amendment, for legislation enacting any form of amendment to the Charter.
- Procedures, for legislation relating to the operation of Congress and/or the Cabinet.
- Legislation, for general legislation enacting Regional laws and/or regulations.
- Role Play, for legislation relating specifically to Role Play.
- Commendation, for proposed Bills of Congressional Commendation.
- Nomination, for bills nominating a member of the DSA to a role that requires congressional approval.
Chapter VI: Archival of Legislation
I - Passed legislation shall be moved into a relevant area of the ‘Laws of the Assembly’ board on the DSA forums.
II - Areas of the ‘Laws of the Assembly’ board on the DSA forums shall be defined as follows:
- The Charter of the Democratic Assembly, where a link to the most recent version of the Charter shall be maintained at all times.
- Passed Amendments to the Charter, where passed Charter Amendments shall be stored and titled following the established numerical order of amendments.
- Passed DSA Legislation, where procedural, general and Role Play legislation shall be stored.
- Congressional Commendations, where ratified Bills of Congressional Commendation shall be stored.
- Approved Nominations, where ratified nominations shall be stored.
