We are here in the DSA Capital where the DSA 2020 Ocean Race is beginning. 19 different teams are competing in this race and all 19 will sail across the world to hold the rank of winner of the DSA Ocean Race! The first stop, Venovica, is a short hop compared to the many miles of open ocean that lay ahead.

While only a short hop compared to what lay ahead, the first leg was a stressful one. The struggle to fight against the northward current saw the fleet stick together, but the Golden Thread was happy to break from the pack and the early confidence paid off. A strong southern wind provided a sling shot for the teams and it was the Golden Thread and Missionary Arks that led the charge. However, not all was well for the teams. The Roosters bought an AC unit from a local merchant the day of the race called the Aeolus Conditioner. The team was doing good and could see the southern islands of Venovica while in 1st place. However, the AC unit soon when haywire and shot so much cold air at their sails that, by the time they could turn it off, it blew them almost all the way back to the DSA Capital, which landed them in last place.

If the strong breeze to the isles of Venovica had thrown teams into the deep end, the opening stages of the second leg from Venovica to the shores of Joseon was a baptism of fire. Many kilometers of full-on downwind racing at a relentless pace had the race remain as intense as everyone expected. The race to Joseon had been close with the fleet barley out of sight of each other. Compared to the previous leg, this leg had a new obstacle that the teams had to confront. The Cephesylon Archipelago, with it's many straits, jagged cliffs, and colliding currents is a difficult barrier for ships to pass from one ocean to the other. However, despite the challenges, the Sailors of Infinity led the charge into the islands and found itself in first place. However, not all were so fortunate. O'Malley's Féin, who had been trailing the group since leaving Venovica, instead of following the usual trading routes taken through the archipelago, chose to take a more reclusive way that served as a shortcut. It was a narrow strait faced with two obstacles. One side featured a whirlpool made by the strait's currents while the other side featured the infamous Synthia, a cynical old woman who owns the strait waters and likes to snipe people who try and go through it. The O'Malley's Féin couldn't sacrifice the ship so they avoided the whirlpool, but at the cost of Synthia no-scope sniping one of the crew members. The lost was tragic, but allowed them to win second place in the 2nd leg.

After facing the daring currents and cliffs of the Cephesylon Archipelago, the teams were off to sail the currents to Proxmire. With strong winds and good waters, this leg of the race came as a relief to many of the sailors. The greatest benefit came to the Forward Into The Night who were the first to sail into the harbor. While most of the fleets had smooth sailing, not all were so lucky. The team EPIC Turbinian Crew did not pack enough food for their trip and were growing more hungry. They discovered an island while sailing that had a small town. On the island was a family called the Pastrygoneians (they own a bake shop and thought they were clever with their pun name). While exploring the landscape of the island, the EPIC crew heard a loud screech from the nearby forest. Suddenly, dozens of people ran out from the trees in a frenzy. The EPIC crew recognized that this was trouble and hurried back to the yacht. They tried to sail away, but the Pastrygoneians launched large poundcakes at the yatch that resulted in the ship sinking. As the crew tried to swim back to the ship, the Pastrygoneians threw spears of sharp wafflecones at them, killing one crew member and injuring two. The Pastrygoneians descended onto the rest of the crew to eat them and use their bodies in 101 different cooking styles.

The 4th leg of the race takes our challengers straight across the Ocean of Solidarity with no land surrounding them for hundreds of miles. The teams huddled together to sail along the Connolly Circle for the quickest route. The harsh waves of the Connolly Circle proved their reputation, rocking all the contestants. To the surprise of the rest of the team, the Roosters, who had been falling behind in the competition, led the pack and were the first to reach the isles of Cessnia. While sailing to the finish line, a rain of ammunition fell upon the teams from a nearby Cessnian fleet who were firing after a funeral. The Flying Debtman, who was in the lead, was hit by one of the shots resulting in injuring two of the crew and destroying the mast of the yatch. By the time they sailed into port, they were 3rd from last place. However, they did not suffer as much as the Thunder Sea Birds and Kuroyumi did in scores.
While sailing through the ocean, the Thunder Sea Birds ran out of food and decided to try and find an island to stop at for food. They found an island that was home to a woman named Fergie. She gave them a banquet as they were hungry. However, she slipped an elixir into the food, one that made the sailors very submissive to her. She's into role-play and made them all pretend they were dirty little pigs. However, the skipper of the yatch didn't eat the food because why not and was able to bailmail her with embarrassing pictures of her from that christmas party. The crew returned to the ship, feeling awkward, and sailed off, only to make it into the Cessnian harbor second to last.
The Kuroyumi were the last to leave Proxmire. They crew met a group of traveling peace loving people called the Lettuce Eaters. They offered the crew a special variance of Lettuce that was so delicious that those who ate of it left off caring about home and did not even want to continue the race and say what had happened to them, but were for staying and munching lettuce with the Lettuce Eaters without thinking further of their race; nevertheless, though they wept bitterly as their team captain forced them back to the yacht. This caused the team to stay docked longer than everyone else, which was quite a disadvantage and showed in the final scores.

Leg 5, the leg of the race we have all been waiting for. This leg, right before the final leg of the DSA Ocean Race, is the 2nd longest and most brutal leg of them all. Contestants must sail from west Cessnia into the Connolly Circle, through the Connolly Strait, and back north to the equator. The opening conditions were just as brutal as the forecast predicted as the fleet punched it's way eastward. However, there was far more to come. From a high speed relentless blast of wind through the freezing waste of the approaching polar waters, physically and mentally, this leg was testing. The Moonlight Raiders were the first to trip up in a big way after a crash jibe left them with a damaged mast. As they throttled back to make repairs, they hemorrhaged kilometers to their competitors. The breezy and brutal conditions were also taking a toll on the fleets, whether from the water crashing over the deck or the waves throwing crew members around, resulting in injuries. Among those to suffer badly was the Forward To the Night of whom had a crew member that suffered broken bones in their foot and back. Meanwhile, leading the charge, O'Malley's Féin and the Thalastifos continued their duel at the front of the fleet.
The voyage through the Connolly Channel and around Romaxia has drawn the attention of many sailors and sailing followers alike for generations. The cold wasteland at the bottom of the world has always had a fearsome reputation; big waves, serious breeze, cold like little have experienced, and an air of mystery and unknown. The pace was blistering, the maneuvers were relentless, and the weather was haunting. Striking the right balance between speed and safety was stressful in this narrow passage that was only a few kilometers wide. However, the weather had more in store. The reports of huge waves, high winds, damaged sails, and fatigued crew became common place. While dealing with all that the Connolly Channel had to offer, the issue of ice became one of grave importance. While many struggled to reach through the ice sheets and ice bergs, the Golden Thread had an idea; hold a nekyia. The crew hunted down a Suceavijan Seal which are supposedly able to talk for the dead. They report to have consulted with one of the many sailors that had perished in this Channel who told them the best route to avoid the ice. Whether or not this is true, the Golden Thread were the first to escape the Connolly Circle.
However, not all people were so fortunate. The Random Chimp Event's yacht had sailed into packed ice and were stuck. Their time in the ice had cost them much time as they were halted in the cold air of the Connolly Channel. However, a mysterious event is reported to have occurred. While stuck, they had spotted and rescued a nearly frozen and emaciated woman named Victoria Franklin. While waiting for the ice to break, she recounted a tale to the crew about a giant creature she chased all the way to the Connolly Circle. The story involved tales of scientific madness, death, torment, heartache, and how Victoria has supposedly stitched together body parts and brought to life a giant incel. She recounts how much she regretted her decisions and died some time later from illness. The ice soon broke, allowing the Random Chimp Event to continue on.
Having snatched an early lead in the leg, the O'Malley's Féin were first to round the Syvian Peninsula and enter the Herrebrugh. Shortly after celebrating their rounding of Romaxia, disaster struck for the Dawn Mariners team. The Connolly Channel's winds were not done yet as their mast had snapped. A crushing blow to a team that had been forced out of a leg of the trip. Motoring the remaining distance to the closest ship repairing dock gave the crew time to reflect. The Rainbow Cruisers was also fighting to stay in the hunt after discovering halfway up the Romaxia Coast a potentially serious leak. Meanwhile, the race at the front of the fleet had intensified. The O'Malley's Féin's lead was under threat by the Thalastifos as the pair headed north to the finish at Talamia. However, it was the O'Malley's Féin that finished first in the 5th Leg of the Ocean Race.

The 6th leg of the race brings the fleet back to the equator on a voyage to the nation of So Hard To Find A Name. The shifts in heat and cold have taken an effect on the sailors, but they continue to trug along. The Rainbow Cruisers was in the lead, however, only a few kilometers before the harbor, the Sea Cats was able to take the lead and finish first. As for the Missionary Ark, however, their voyage was less than ideal. While sailing past the islands of Taliand, they had heard a lovely sound. It was the sound of singing. As the sailing yacht neared a small island, they spotted a group of women singing "Pump It" by the Dark Eyed Peas. It was so angelic that they sailed up to them and joined in song. This went on for a while until the yacht captain remembered that they were in a race, smacked up the band with a sandal, and got the crew back into the race, only to come in last, however.

The 7th leg of the race takes the racers back into the north to race to the nation of Xingal. Determistan continued the luck they had on the previous leg by continually staying in the front of the fleet and securing first place when they sailed into the Xingalese harbor. On the leg that would take them into their home waters, the Kuroyumi pulled away from usually being in the back of the fleet to joining the front and winning 4th place in the 7th leg. With this being the penultimate leg before the final one, the teams put in all their might to gain extra points and extra points they gained. With one team at 82 points, three teams at 81 points, and others not far behind, the potential winner of the DSA 2020 Ocean Race could be anyone. Wel...maybe not anyone. While most of the fleets had smooth sailing, not all were so lucky. The Flying Debtman's toilet was broken and they did not wish to pollute the waters with their defecation, so they sailed onto and island to properly dispose of it. They found a cave and went to dispose of it in there, but were soon trapped inside. A large man (and I mean large, like this guys crushes logs with this thighs large) with an eye patch had trapped them in there, apparently living there, who wanted to attack them for trespassing. However, Jake Sinclair, one of the crew members of the Flying Debtman, was able to seduce him and his lumberjack thighs, during which they disposed of the defecation in his eye and blinded him. His neighbors, who are even more thicc than him, came to see what was happening and the crew ran out and quickly sailed away. This cost them quite the amount of time, resulting in them being in last place.

This was it; the last leg. The final leg took the fleet from the isles of Xingal into the waters of the NKD. Knowing that this leg is the end of their treacherous journey, all the teams were eager to cross the finishing line. In the end, it was the Sailors of Infinity that finished first in the 8th leg, followed by Forward Into the Night, on the stretch to their home nation, coming in last.
Once all the teams crossed the line, the scores were added and the winner was determined. Taking first is the Thalastifos from the nation of Talamia, followed by the Crimson Crusader from the nation of Qingling in second and a tie of the Sailors of Infinity from the nation of Ezechard and the Rainbow Cruisers from the nation of Determistan in third.
