An act to establish a system of Commendations in the DSA
The Congress of the Democratic Socialist Assembly:
Wishing to officially honour the efforts of individual members of the DSA;
Observing that beyond Administrator Emeritus positions for esteemed administrators, no such honours system currently exists;
Seeking a means of officially recognising distinguished long service and singular acts of significance to the DSA;
Hereby enacts the following legislation:
Chapter I - General Provisions
I - This act may be cited as the “Commendations Act”
II - This act shall come into force upon its passage.
Chapter II - Bills of Congressional Commendation
I - Any Member of the DSA Congress in good standing may propose a Bill of Congressional Commendation.
II - A Bill of Congressional Commendation may honour one or more individuals.
III - Bills of Congressional Commendation must state the reason(s) for which an individual is to be commended.
IV - Bills of Congressional Commendation shall be treated like all other proposed non-Charter Amendment legislation in terms of scrutiny and voting.
Chapter III - Ratified Commendations
I - Once ratified, Congressional Commendations shall be stored in their own board of the Congress section on the DSA forum.
II - Any Member of the DSA Congress in good standing may propose legislation to repeal a Congressional Commendation, stating the reasons for which the Commendation is to be repealed.
III - Bills to repeal a Commendation shall be treated like all other proposed non-Charter Amendment legislation in terms of scrutiny and voting.
