Hello, friends. I’m void, or the United Syndicates of Sol, and I’m running for Minister of Role Play. While the nomination period has closed and no one else has run for the position, I believe it to be important nevertheless to discuss my intended platform as Minister of Role Play that others may have an idea of my intentions going forward and offer constructive feedback if necessary.
As Minister of Role Play, my focus would be on stimulating roleplay activity throughout the DSA & integrating new members. As it stands, RP is somewhat quiet, with less than a half-dozen active roleplays on the discord at any given point and precious few new members joining. It’s no secret we’ve bled members recently, but with the Department of Immigration back up and running, now is a prime time to welcome new members and stimulate the creativity of extant members. I plan on achieving this through several distinct, but intertwined strategies:
• Coordination with the Department of Immigration to focus recruitment efforts on the DSA’s strength as a hub of creativity and roleplay, drawing in prospective members.
• Making the process of becoming involved in RP easier for new members. While it’s easy to see it as a simple process of finding someone to collaborate with, it is nonetheless quite intimidating to get involved in RP for the first time or even just in a new region. The goal is to focus community efforts on making new users feel comfortable and welcome.
• Creating frequent in-character events for all interested parties to attend, even those not typically interested in or intimidated by roleplay. The goal here is to create at least one event per month. Additionally, the focus will be on creating events that can be joined by anyone at any time with no applications or setup necessary. Creating “drop-in, drop-out” events makes it easier for everyone to participate or even just test the waters. The hope is to create events that serve as their own prompts, helping members new and old get into interesting roleplay. Often, nations will create fascinating content or have interesting ideas, but don't necessarily have a good hook to get others interested in roleplay with them. These frequent events would serve not only as a hook, but a stimulus for further creative development.
• Working with members to draw attention to community-created events not necessarily tied to the Ministry of Role Play. The hope is to aim for a more horizontal structure where everyone's project can be just as valid and important as “official” Ministry of Role Play events.
• Helping to integrate the new maps into roleplay effectively, and, once satisfactory, start looking once more into introducing proper NPC nations to help add conflict and stimulate interesting roleplay and events.
