This bill enters the floor for the consideration of Congress until November 9th, 2018
Legislation: Ballot Security Act
Category: Legislation Author: Ivory Rhodes
A bill to ensure fair elections
Be it enacted by the Congress of the Democratic Socialist Assembly,
Chapter I: General Provisions 1.1 Title This act may be cited as the “Ballot Security Act” 1.2 Effective This act shall come into force upon its passage.
Chapter II: Keeping Ballots Secret 2.1 When an election, vote, or other legally binding use of a poll is to be conducted on the DSA’s forum at congress.dsagov.org, the returning officer responsible for the conduction of said poll will be responsible for ensuring the results of the poll are kept private until the election, vote, or otherwise is legally completed. 2.2 No returning officer or any Cabinet Minister who possesses a permissions set which allow them to see live results and/or who has voted before a poll has locked may not divulge the results or list of voters to any person. 2.2 No person under any circumstance may use live results and/or the list of voters of any given poll to ensure the passage or failure of any vote, or to ensure the victory or defeat of any given candidate for elected office.
Chapter III: Punishments for Violations of the Secret Ballot 3.1 Any violations of this law will result in the reference of the offender in question to the Minister of Justice to be prosecuted in accordance with Section 3.1 of the Charter, “Disciplinary Measures”.
As far as i know there will still be people who will be able to view live results, those being "returing officers" and "cabinet ministers" no? So from that it seems that 2.3 is unenforcable or will atleast be vulnerable to violations that may go unnoticed.
So if these are possible I think the goal of this legislation would be much more efficiently achieved if no-one would be able to view the votes until the voting has ended and if that's not a possiblility just to let everyone see it.
