BREAKING NEWS: The DSA Space Telescope has detected a large asteroid headed for our planet. It is predicted to impact in southern Wileyshire around the 25th of October. Should it impact, it will certainly cause an extinction-level event. Nations of the Democratic Socialist Assembly, it is up to you to decide on a plan of action to combat this catastrophic event.
(OOC Info: This takes place in the modern time period, so no absurd sci-fi tech)
All discussions of what actions will be taken to combat this existential threat should be done here.

While I don't know how many nukes Dekks should have, I do think that we would have enough nukes to break the asteroid up in chunks that are small enough for our atmosphere to then even burn up into smaller pieces to make sure that the damage isn't too bad, however, Dekks will need reasonable payment for this, of course it's not gonna be ridiculous.

I'm not too sure how effective this would be, but Napoilia could send its satellite over there to try and break up the asteroid (for the same reasons as Dekks). This would be very expensive, but another launch is already planned and it lands a helping hand. Payment will not be required.

Despite our lack of either launch capabilities or outer space resources, we offer our laboratory and observatory services to provide live tracking and general research contributions as part of worldwide coordination efforts. All of Sakiba and Brookhaven Universities' astronomical resources and personnel will be made available to any international organizations involved in countering the asteroid threat.

(OOC: Incidentally, is there an international organization as of yet or is it just governments throwing stuff together rn?)
I think that we have to act collectively by our maximum means. That means that every nation should state the amount of help that can provide and the Ministry should coordinate the effort, by calculating the current position of the asteroid and the amount of strikes needed to shrink the asteroid (if not destroy) so that by the time it approaches, it will be burned by our atmosphere, so the last impact product will be in the far fetched scenario a big crater (which we can use it as a memorial of our aligned forces) or can be as small as garden rocks.
The problem with nuking the asteroid is that he cannot know how it will break, we can't predict how many and how big chunks it will create. It can easily turn the situation to the worst, as we'll have to deal with many asteroids instead of one. Also, there are asteroids that aren't solid, but they consist of many space debris, held together only by gravity. In that case the bombs would pass right through it.
So my first suggestion is to find out more about this asteroid. Its size and composition are important aspects of the solution.
As for a solution, I prefer the tractor. Everything is attracted by everything else by the gravity and in space there is nothing working against it. So we send rockets to the asteroid, although not to hit it. Instead they'll get close to the asteroid, close enough to have some gravitational pull, yet not too close that they'll drop on it. Then they'll pull it ever so slightly off course.
The problem with the solution is that gravity is the weakest of the forces. The rockets will pull the asteroid, but considering how big a rocket can be it will take a lot of time even to slightly change its course. It can work, but only given time. I'm not sure just over a month is enough to prepare the mission and then execute it.
Korolevia has only a fledgling space program and no launches are planned any time soon, but the Korolevian National Observatory has been instructed to focus its efforts on monitoring the asteroid’s progress. The head of the Korolevian Treasury Office is also preparing a new budget which will set aside a reasonable amount of money that can be contributed to the final agreed-upon plan of action.
Dekks has alot of nukes, and together with nukes form other nations that should be viable, alot of debris, maybe, but the atmoshpere will make it even smaller, so it's not gonna be too bad, i hope

The Republic of Xingal offers three state-of-the-art Ariadne VI shuttles with the rockets needed to get them into space. With this, we should be able to get enough missiles into orbit to bomb the asteroid into debris small enough to be destroyed by either the atmosphere or homing missiles/mines that little damage should be done to our planet. Furthermore, we can monitor the asteroid and send a tracker its way to act as a beacon for the first attack, as well as improve tracking it. There are also super-computers available. The Ariadne-shuttles can be made ready for launch within a month's time; the tracker can be sent on its way within a week. First plans have been discussed with Illyrian States as well, and both nations believe the plan to be workable.

Wileyshire has the capability to quickly assemble large sums of ballistic rockets, both nuclear and traditional. We even have large stockpiles of each available. Should this be the choice that is agreed upon, we will quickly assemble such a thing. We however do not have large space capability if we are trying to assault it before it reaches our own atmosphere as may be necessary and would need to work with technicians and scientists from other nations to customize our weapons for any ship equipping.
The men and women of Wileyshire stands ready to defend our planet from this threat in solidarity with the rest of the planet.

Actually, a better use of our satellite would be in tracking the passage of the asteroid. As the satellite is already in space, and away from other transmitting devices, there will be less interference in the detection systems. We can provide accurate live tracking of the asteroids path, as well as improving internet speeds across the DSA so transmitting can occur more frequently and with more data. Unfortunately, we do not have missiles of any sort in our nation and cannot help in the destruction of the asteroid. Napoilia is ready to provide full support if the situation should worsen.

The Debtian Astronautical Base (D.A.B.) has launched a satellite into orbit around the DSA. We have also launched a shuttle to Danae. Both of these will have the purpose of hosting nuclear arms that will be aimed at the asteroid and attempt to destroy it. The orbital satellite is a back-up station for if the Danae station, which is intended to be the main launching platform for our nuclear arms, is not withing range or has a clear enough shot to hit the asteroid.
The satellite should be in orbit within this week and the shuttle should reach Danae by October 10th. Once the platforms have been fully constructed, we will send up our nuclear arms.
Burninandom, a nation with some spacefaring experience, offers technical advice to any nation moving to respond to this crisis. It does not currently have the resources to launch much, itself, though. Burninandom's scientists do say that if allowed, it could relatively quickly construct a Verne Gun, and launch several large objects at the asteroid. If they hit it, they'd be able to push its path a bit, perhaps enough to move its course off a collision-course with the DSA. Regrettably, this was not caught with enough warning to take less desperate measures.

DSAC Resolution 6 passed by a vote of 7-5-1. With the passage of the resolution, The Debtian Astronautical Base (D.A.B), with the cooperation of the Science Corps, the branch of the Debtian military that controls the country's nuclear arms, has placed 10 of it's nuclear missiles onto a shuttle, which will be sent to Danae in order

The Debtian nuclear arms have arrived at the station in Danae and are being prepared to launch. If successful, we may very well save the DSA from destruction.

The nuclear missiles have hit the asteroid. The asteroid was broken into smaller pieces, meaning that life on the DSA will not end.
However, the missiles did not prevent the pieces from heading toward the DSA. The pieces will hit the DSA between the 24th and 26th of October. Below is a map of the projected areas that the meteorites will land in.

Xingal offers to take in people wishing to evacuate from the endangered regions. Despite already providing shelter for the Szargani war refugees, the government believes it possible to take in people who wish to weather the impact in saver regions, even if only in limited numbers. Citizens already stepped forward offering empty rooms and sofas to take in whoever wants to take up the offer. New container villages are being erected just outside of cities to prepare for the additional refugees. The government wants to remind everyone that only those in immediate threat can be offered evacuation. To those not in immediate danger, assistance will be sent out to set up refugee camps and to get them to safer regions of their own country should the respective government allow it.
