This will serve as a voting and discussion thread for the Discord Administration Update. Voting will be up until November 20th.
Discord Administration 1.pdf (772.23 KB)
There's quite a lot to go through on here, so much so that I figured it was simpler to repeal and replace the Discord law again. I urge everyone to read through the file but I've provided a summary of the changes made:
Servers are now categorized as Main Server and Associated Servers, as there are many DSA servers used for different purposes.
The Admin can nominate people to serve as Overseers of Associated Servers, they'd need a simple majority vote by congress. They're like mini admins who answer to the Admin. This is for consistent and unified moderation between servers.
As the DSA no longer has a president, an Admin now needs unanimous approval by the Council to be nominated. An Overseer would now be selected to serve in the interim until a new Admin is selected.
Added a provision for a rapid response by the Mod Staff in the case that any server is evidently and clearly compromised by hackers, malware, or infiltrators (like, far right infiltrators that could put people in danger) and must be terminated. At present, the law has no way to deal with such a case.
Significantly more detail on how appeals function and on how to hold mods accountable. In many ways, this is a codification of some things we've already done. But it's an actual procedure now instead of just norms and guesswork.
Added language that shows the high expectations placed on mods and the care we have to take to keep people secure and anonymous if they submit complaints. This is a codification of present behavior and norms.
Added detail on the nature of server polls and how they are conducted
